Poppy Appeal

Every Poppy makes a difference to the lives of our Armed Forces community.

Thank you for supporting the 2022 Poppy Appeal. Every Poppy makes a difference to the lives of our Armed Forces community.

Thank you to everyone who has taken part, whether through donating, volunteering or doing your own fundraising challenge.

Last year, we marked 100 years of the Royal British Legion, and also celebrated the return of our amazing Poppy Appeal collectors in our local communities. Without them and without you, we wouldn’t be able to continue supporting serving and ex-serving men and women and their families.

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION POPPY APPEAL
The official launch of the Wimborne and District Poppy Appeal 2023 will be at 1000hrs on Saturday 28th October in Wimborne Square.
The Appeal makes a vital contribution to supporting retired and injured Service personnel and their dependants in almost every aspect of daily life and it is both heartening and humbling to see how much the people of our area support this work year after year.
Poppy boxes and collecting tins will be distributed to many retail and social outlets throughout the area for the Remembrance fortnight. In Wimborne itself, gazebos will be located daily both on the Square and at Waitrose. Each will have a variety of Poppy related items available. This year, we are also launching our plastic-free (paper) poppy alongside the traditional items as we exhaust existing stocks and gradually change to plastic-free items.
Our street collections will commence at 1000hrs on Saturday 28th October when vehicles from the Dorset Military Enthusiasts Trust will be on parade. A cry from the Town Serjeant, a trumpet call, and the purchase of the first poppy by the Town Mayor will all add to the event.
We always need volunteers to help with our stalls and collections so if you can offer an hour or so over the Remembrance fortnight, you would be most welcome. There is a sheet on the noticeboard in the RBL clubhouse on West Borough where you can register your interest and book a slot.
Alternatively, and should you have any queries or seek further information, then please contact Wimborne RBL Poppy Appeal via email at keigjoseph@btinternet.com or by text or call to 07799 466596.

If you would like to purchase Poppy items, there’s a huge range to choose from on the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Shop.

Wearing a Poppy is a show of support for the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, veterans and their families

It represents all those who lost their lives on active service in all conflicts; from the beginning of the First World War right up to present day.

It also honours the contribution of civilian services and the uniformed services which contribute to national peace and security and acknowledges innocent civilians who have lost their lives in conflict and acts of terrorism.
